Fraser is honestly obscure. The family appears in Scotland from the twelfth century as de Fresel or Frisel, and the later association with fraise, the French for strawberry, looks like heraldry inventing an explanation for itself — the strawberry flowers on the arms came after the name, not before.
Where an etymology is contested we would rather say so than pick the prettiest version.
Bestow the name a title it never had
An honorific Lord or Lady certificate in the Fraser name, hand-finished and sealed, with a square metre of Scottish woodland dedicated alongside it. A novelty, magnificently done — and a good deal more fun than a family tree.
