Ross-shire and the north

From the Gaelic ros, a headland or promontory, and from the northern province that takes its name from the same word. There is also an unrelated German and Jewish surname Ross, and an English one from the Old English for a horse.

As with Cameron, one spelling covers several unrelated origins.

Bestow the name a title it never had

An honorific Lord or Lady certificate in the Ross name, hand-finished and sealed, with a square metre of Scottish woodland dedicated alongside it. A novelty, magnificently done — and a good deal more fun than a family tree.
