Nothing to do with walking. A walker trod newly woven woollen cloth in water to thicken and felt it — the process called fulling, done underfoot before it was done by mill.
In the south the same worker was a Fuller and in the west a Tucker, so the three surnames map onto three dialect regions of the same trade.
Bestow the name a title it never had
An honorific Lord or Lady certificate in the Walker name, hand-finished and sealed, with a square metre of Scottish woodland dedicated alongside it. A novelty, magnificently done — and a good deal more fun than a family tree.
