The Highland Camerons take their name from cam sròn, ‘crooked nose’. A separate Lowland family of the same spelling takes it from places called Cameron in Fife and Angus, so two unrelated origins share one modern name.
Scottish surnames do this more often than people expect. A shared spelling is not evidence of a shared ancestor.
Bestow the name a title it never had
An honorific Lord or Lady certificate in the Cameron name, hand-finished and sealed, with a square metre of Scottish woodland dedicated alongside it. A novelty, magnificently done — and a good deal more fun than a family tree.
