A cooper made and repaired casks and barrels — the containers everything moved in before the crate. It was a skilled trade with its own guilds and a long apprenticeship.
The name is thickest in the south and midlands, and the German equivalent Küfer and Dutch Kuiper share the root.
Bestow the name a title it never had
An honorific Lord or Lady certificate in the Cooper name, hand-finished and sealed, with a square metre of Scottish woodland dedicated alongside it. A novelty, magnificently done — and a good deal more fun than a family tree.
